Verse of the Day:

Sermons

We are learning about the Holy Spirit in our Sunday worship services right now. So far we have covered these topics about the Holy Spirit:

  • The Holy Spirit is for all believers, not just select few
  • The Bible uses many names and symbols for the Holy Spirit, like Spirit of Power, Comforter, Wind, and Fire
  • The Holy Spirit is the presence of God in his people
  • Every believer has the Holy Spirit in them
  • The Bible tells us that we should be filled with the Holy Spirit
  • Being filled with the Holy Spirit is about control. Who will control our life – our old nature or the Spirit of Christ?
  • Being filled with the Holy Spirit usually involves both a crisis and a process
    • There comes a time when we realize that we have to give up control, and decide to let the Spirit have control of us
    • Sanctification is also a process, where we grow in holiness and maturity by yielding more and more areas of our lives to God
  • We need a hunger for God’s Spirit and presence
